ok, so it is 50 million degrees here… and we know that… we have had an issue with our electric bill recently, last month was over $300 and we just can’t afford it to keep going up, so we are looking at ways to save electricity.
We were doing the obvious stuff, our AC thermostat is set at 84 during the day, 80 at night so we can sleep, turn off all extra lights, running the dishwasher less often, etc. But this one never occured to me..
with being 50 million degrees outside my garage is even hotter…like 70 million. and DUH, it never occurred to me that the chest freezer we have out there is having to work even harder to keep things cold! We have moved the freezer into the house, and dropped the temp on the water heater some, hopefully that will help.
Now I feel bad for having my house temp at 72 all the time. But we only pay about $180 a month. I wonder why such a difference. We have a deep freeze too in the garage. Hmmm. Not gloating I promise. Hope you guys get it all figured out and it gets cheaper for ya…Jen H.

Jen, our temps are considerably higher than yours, it has been rare over the last 3 weeks to have a high temp. be UNDER 110 degrees, you can cool your house to a cooler temp and still pay less… don’t feel bad, eventually I will not live in the third circle of hell

I hope your efforts pay off. I understand the cost of gas and electric being ridiculous. I had to decide if I was paying gas OR electric this month. ugh

Yes, today will be our first day of 100 degrees. Hope things get better though.
